The composting toilet has been emptied, deep cleaned and is now back in service.
It is important to ensure that limited amounts of liquid enter the system as this inhibits the composting process. The toilet is fitted with a urine separation system, and water used for personal hygene should be kept to a minimum. Wood shavings will no longer be available in the toilet as incorrect application causes the urine separation system to block, they will be applied on a regular basis by trained volunteers.
Further improvements are being presented to the committee for consideration while they explore the possibility of installing a flushing toilet connected to the mains.
